PCE-OM 200 stroboscope
portable
stroboscope for the professional sector, with
rechargeable batteries
available in two models with different
range of measurement and accuracy
|
|
This
stroboscope are generally used for
measuring rotation or observing movement.
The
stroboscope is compact and light weight
allowing them to be used comfortably in
places that are difficult to access.
That they can be used over long periods
of time makes them an essential tool for
professionals in a wide range of
applications. The
stroboscope has a trigger
input available making possible an
external synchronization and activation.
The stroboscope is powered by an
internal rechargeable battery making the
device completely flexible in how it can
be used. The keypad allows the user to
quickly select double or half the
revolutions. Other measuring instruments
can be found at our
home page. This following link has
information about
the use of strobosocopes.

Trigger
input / Display |
|
By way of the trigger, the stroboscope
can be easily controlled by hand, such as in measuring the velocity
of an external machinery. It is connected via a 2-pin NPN connector
whihc is compatible with a TTL connection. The flash's frequency by
truning an adjustment knob, which is disabled while the Trigger is
plugged into the device. A connection cable is available for the
Trigger, just ask one of our technicians when placing your order. |

Range
of use |
The
stroboscope is the ideal tool for
maintenance technicians and
technical service personnel for
industrial installations and
machinery. It can check revolutions
in two directions or visualize
problems that could not normally be
seen by the human eye, and allow the
user to capture the image of a
moving object by optically freezing
its motion using strobe flashes.
The stroboscope comes guaranteed
thanks to its years of use in
industrial processes without, of
course, forgetting the field of
research and development:
- In filling machines in the
production of beer or mineral water.
- In printing presses and paper
manufacturing
(printing: the
stroboscope can determine velocity
of more than 60m /min.
It can observe the
trajectory before winding.)
With the stroboscope, the
user can identify the smallest
errors in proceses, such as
pulsations. The following image
shows it checking a paper molding
machine.

- In weaving machines in the
textile industry
- In the automotive industry
- In high speed machines and
motors
The stroboscope is used primarily to
measure rotation, as shown in the
adjacent picture. Frequently this
form of testing is used in the
adjustment of large high velocity
mechanism within machines, allowing
them to be set according to an
operations manual relavent to a
particular process the manchine is
involved in or to evaluate the
revolutions coming from an
electrical operation.
Furthermore, it can test the
concentric force of waves or moving
components, making it the perfect
tool for inspecting motors, waves,
gears, cylinders and whichever
object that has a rotating motion.
- In ventilation systems and air
conditioning units.
- In the sheet steel industry
- The stroboscope is the optimum
support unit everywhere where
rotating components can be found or
in the production process of a large
number of units.
Notice on the risks of using
stroboscope: all objects that are
measured using a stroboscope are
typically moving at a high velocity.
Maintain the device at a safe
distance from the moving component
and never permit them to touch each
other. |

About
the use of a stroboscope |
|
The adjacent images show the proper use of
stroboscope to obtain correct
measurements and to generate the
best image possible, when trying to
determine the result produced if the
rotation of a component is doubled,
for example from 110/min to 220/min.
The correct method has a
general character although here we
will look specifically at the use of
the stroboscope to check a conveyor
belt and of the wave action.
In measuring the conveyor belt we
first optically freeze its motion,
this is easlly achieved by adjusting
the flash rate until the belt
appears to not be rotating.
In observing the conveyor belt, it
appear to be undulating like a wave.
In cases of repair and maintenance
of the machine, we should mark a
line of reference using chalk
verticaly with respect to the
direction that the belt functions
and put this line on the entire belt.
Example of measuring a wave:
In a wave that is correctly centred
with the wheel that propels it, the
true number of rotations will be
measured when it is optically frozen.
If the driving wheel is not centred
on its axle, or it is not balanced,
a different number of rotations will
be measured by the stroboscope.
In practice, this leads to errors in
evaluations.

Replacement
rechargeable battery
If the stroboscope will be used
frequently or over long periods of
time, it is recommended that a spare
battery be ordered to ensure that if
one battery runs low on power while
on the job, it can be replaced with
another that is charged and ready to
go, saving both time and money. |
 |
|
Replacement Xenon bulb
The life of a Xenon bulb is very
long, but if the stroboscope is
needed for off-site work, it might
be a good idea to have a replacement
bulb handy, just to ensure that if
anything does happen, the job can
still be completed without an
unexpected delay. |
 |
|
Tripod
For measurement of machines or
components over a period of time,
such as 8 hours, a tripod is
recommended. A tripod can also be
used in combination with the Trigger
to regulate the flash's frequency to
that of the velocity of the object
being measured. |
 |
|
ISO
calibration certificate
For companies wishing to incorporate
the stroboscope into their internal
system of quality control tools or
would like to perform annual
recalibrations. The calibration
meets ISO standards and includes a
laboratory calibration and a
certificate containing the
measurement values of the
calibration. Company or personal
details are also included in the
documentation. |
