PCE-2000 (type D
impact) hardness tester
for testing metals,
with internal memory and RS-232 interface
|
|
PCE-2000
(type
D impact) portable
hardness tester is used for quickly testing surface
hardness of metalic materials according to the
parameters: Rockwell B & C, Vickers HV, Brinell HB, Shore HS
and Leeb HL. The hardness tester can
be used in any position, including on a mount, with
angle selection and adjustment. The striking unit
fits easily on top of the item being measured. With
the external digital indicator showing all the
functions and readings, there is no way of making
errors in the measurements. The hardness tester
comes with a statistical function to calculate
average value and an RS-232 interface to allow for
the possibility of transmitting data to a computer.
Technical specifications can be found further down
this page. If you wish to acquire a hardness tester
for metals without an interface, memory or software,

Princple of measurement for hardness testers:
The dynamic measurement process uses the difference
between the rebound velocity of a small striking pin.
This is shot at the metal surface being measured
from the device by way of a tension spring.
Hardness testers can be used for:
steel, cast steel, cold cast steel tools, stainless
steel, cst iron, aluminium, brass, bronze and forged
metals.
Measurement conditions:
- Minimum surface measurable 10 x 10mm
- Minimum radial curvature of measurement
surface r = 30mm
without adaptor, with adaptor screw
and v-slot the
minimum radial curve is 11mm
- For working pieces less than 5kg and
wall thickness of 5mm if the device is fastened to a
solid
base before using it to measure hardness
- Working pieces of less than 2kg have to
be attached to a solid base using coupling gel.
The following link has an
explantion of the hardness
testing process.
|
|
Like the PCE-2000
(impact D)
hardness tester, it comes with an RS-232
interface, which can be connected to a computer to
allow for data to be archived. Data saved to the
memory of the device can also be sent to a computer
for analysis and documentation. You will find
software in the optional accessories further down
this page.

Optional accessories
- Software with
RS-232 cable
For transmission of data to a
computer.
- RS-232 to USB adaptor
The standard hardness tester
includes and RS-232 interface. This adaptor allows
you to connect the device to something via a USB cable.
- ISO calibration
certificate
The calibration certificate includes a
laboratory calibration wth a document containing all the
measurement values. This allows for an
annual recalibration.
- Adaptor
for internal or external diameters
For concaved and convexed
surfaces as well as an adaptor for radius.
With these adaptors you can measure the insides of
tubes. |
