| Some definitions regarding Dust Particle Analysers Total dust: Sum of respirable dust, thin and thoracic dust (respirable= solid, inhalable=liquid). Respirable dust: Respirable dust is defined as the fraction of dust with a thickness of 100 µm approx. reaching alveolar region of the lungs (head area). In order to detect pollution in the air, you may need a particulate sampling pump with a flow rate of 3,5 l/min connection with a isokinetic probe. Thoracic dust: Thoracic dust particles have a thickness of 10 µm approx. which are deposited anywhere within the lung airways and the gas exchange region. In order to detect pollution in the air, you may need a particulate sampling pump with a flow rate of 3,5 l/min connection with a isokinetic probe.
