Scales for people are used to measure and determine the people’s body weight. The measurement range for scales to weigh people use is from 0 kg  up to 150 kg, and sometimes to 200 kg. Scales for obese people have measurement ranges up to 300 kg.  Each household should be equipped with this type of scales. The regular use of scales for people allows to establish the weight in case of obesity or extreme thinness. In the olden days people used to use spring scales to measure their body weight. However, the results determined and shown by the spring scale apparatus were usually imprecise. Nowadays, most of the scales for people are digital showing the weight on the display. Digital scales for people are more accurate in measuring body weight and the digital display enables easier reading in comparison to mechanical scales. Most of the digital scales for people not only measure the body weight but also they have some additional functions like the determination of body fat.  The verification of scales for people, only for those that can be verified, can be done when scales are ordered or as a reverification. Once an official verification has been done the scales for people cannot be recalibrated using an external calibration weight. The first verification is valid for two years, but each following validation is good for one year and must be done annually. We recommend a ISO calibration certificate for those companies that wish to include scales for people inside its internal set of control tools or for an annual recalibration. To meet with DIN ISO 9000 (quality assurance) a laboratory calibration can be performed (including calibration documentation) or a verification.
