Scales for people |
|
Scales for people are used to measure and determine the people’s body weight.
The measurement range for scales to weigh people use to be from 0
kg to 150
kg, and sometimes to 200 kg. Scales for obese
people have measurement ranges up to 300 kg. These scales for people should be in
all houses. The regular use of scales
for people allows to check the weight
in case of obesity or extreme thinness. Some years ago scales for people were
spring scales. These scales determined and showed the body weight by means of
a spring mechanism so they were quite imprecise. Nowadays, most of the scales
for people are digital showing the weight on the display. Digital scales for
people are more accurate to determine the body weight and the digital display
enables an easier reading than mechanical scales. Most of the digital scales
for people not only measure the body weight but also they have some
additional functions. The most useful function of scales for people is the
determination of body fat. These scales for people, which can determine body
fat, measures body fat by means of the body electrical resistance. The results
of these measurements are not very accurate owing to different factors such
as a full bladder or dehydration after sport which can considerably affect
these values. To get a more or less reliable result it is important to weigh
people at the same time and under the same conditions. The best conditions to
weigh people are generally in the morning after urination or before having a
shower (dry skin). Scales for people determine body fat and the amount of
water in humans’ body using the same principle of electrical resistance. Here,
we can also find quite imprecise values. Finally, there are
scales for people
which measure Bodymass-Index (BMI) after introducing the weight and tallness.

The v erification of scales for people, only
for those that can be verified, can be done when scales are order ed or as a reverification. Once an official verification has been done the scales for
people cannot be recalibrated using an external calibration weight. The first
verification is valid for two years, but each following validation is good
for one year and must be done annually. We recommend a ISO calibration
certificate for those companies that wish to include scales for people inside
its internal set of control tools or for an annual recalibration. To meet
with DIN ISO 9000 (quality assurance) a laboratory calibration can be
performed (including calibration documentation) or a verification.
