pH Transducers
The pH transducers are available in different versions to transform the pH value in a 4-20 mA signal. The advantage of converting the measured value directly in the measurement place by means of a pH transducer is that the measured value can be transferred without any loss within long distances. The pH electrode has a connection cable with a maximum length of 10 m. In case the pH electrode output signal has become a 4-20 mA signal using the pH transducers, this signal could be carried out along several hundred meters. HI 8614N pH transducers operate within a measurement range of : -2 to +16 pH. The measured signal proportionally transforms itself into a 4-20 mA signal which can be read by many different regulators as well as digital indicators. The temperature compensation is performed with a fixed temperature or by means the optional sensor temperature. The IP 65 protection allows the use of pH transducers either in dusty or wet environments. The HI 8614LN pH transducer offers a display which shows the measured value in situ. In different industrial sectors, the pH value should be continuously checked and tested. The measurement chain is formed, in the simplest case, by both a pH electrode and a control unit. However, the distance between the pH electrode and the control unit is limited. For longer distances, pH transducers should be used. The pH transducers measure the output voltage of the pH electrode in the measurement place. Then, this value is transformed into a current signal. The advantage is that it is possible to perform measurements from several hundred meters. The normalized signal can be read and processed by several units such as regulators, digital indicators or even dataloggers. This signal is sent regardless the cable length. Some pH transducers have a built-in display, so pH values can be read at the measurement place. The connection between the pH electrode and the type HI 8614 pH transducer is very easy using BNC connectors.
