Lux Meter with data
logger PCE-174
for measuring light
with memory and interface |
|
The Lux Meter with
memory PCE-174 for up to 16,000 readings is used for measuring
light in the industry, agriculture and research. The
Lux Meter is
also used in oder to determine illumination
at the workplace, shop window displays and by designers. It
meets with all international standards within the
category for luxmeters.
The Lux Meter displays measurement results in lux and
footcandle. Please consider that 1 FC is equal to 10.70
lux. The device automatically detects the peak value,
when this value is retained for a minimum 10 µs.
Thanks to the possibility to select the
measurement range, the Lux Meter PCE-174 is a high precision
instrument. It is easy to use. This Lux Meter can also be
used by inexperienced personnel. Of course, when light
is measured, the ambient conditions must be taken
into consideration. As such, the distance must be fixed
and the angle between the Lux Meter and the object
that is measured in order to obtain results of the highest repeatability.
Here is a table of minimum
values that should be regularly maintained inside, although
outside values are substancially higher. The following links
show a conversion table for the measurement of lux and a lux
meter with similar technical specfications but with
neither a memory
nor an interface (Lux
conversion /
Lux
Meter PCE-174). Here is an
overview of the

The Lux Meter can be used in the industrial sector. |

Lux Meter measurements of light density |
|
Light density unit L is candela per square metre (cd/m²),
this unit used by the Lux Meter includes the origin
of the quantity, that is intensity of the light
emitted l per surface angle A, ε angle.
L=I/A*cos( ε).
In brief, light density provides with clarity of a
surface which emits light or of a heat source. The
sun has a light density of approx. 1 Mrd. cd/m²,
discharge lamps about 10,000 cd/m². In the
Anglo-Saxon area, the unit foot lambert (ftl) is
also used to measure light intensity. This unit is
also displayed in the lux meter if you wish.
1 ftl = (1/π) cd/ft² = 3,426 cd/m². |
