Micrometers
At PCE-Group you will find
micrometers for determining the
thickness of paint and surface coatings. These micrometers can be used for all types of metal surfaces (steel,
iron, non-ferrous metals). The principles
behind measuring paint and coating thickness is the magnetic
induction or the interference to current. For these reasons, the
micrometers can be used where ever there is a galvanizing process.
These devices are particularly practical for quality control
in anodizing, galvanizing and zinc coating. They are perfect
for measuring body paint thickness on automobiles, for
example:

General
information
about micrometers:
Micrometers are particularly
useful in the automotive industry. Apart from micrometers
which measure coating thickness, you can also find devices
for measuring "surface
brightness."
A newly lacquered surface brightness value is totally
different than one which is a few years old.
Although
one might vigorously attempt to polish it,
environmental contamination and
ultraviolet
light
destroys the briliance of the original lacquer.
Measurement
results can indicate if the surface has been repaired after
an accident.
One
must
consider
that
coating of paint are constantly getting thinner
(eg.
110 ľm).
The tolerance of lacquered finished is very fine. On
relacquered surfaces considerable oscilations in the surface
will occur, owing to the fact that the surface is first
filed in preparation and the mode of application is less
complexed than when the product s first produced.
Micrometers
are
also
become
more
prevalent
in
the
industrial
sector.
It
is
used
for
lacquer
on
boats,
painted
railings
and wood surfaces.
The
majority
of
our
micrometers
can be calibrated according to
ISO
standards. For this reason, they are perfect in applications
of quality control if calibrated on a regular basis. |
