Air flow meters
Here you will find air flow meters
to measure air velocity and air pressure. Depending on the type of application,
air flow meters are
made as hot-wire air flow meters or pocket weather flow
meters,
both of which can measure air velocity and air pressure. The results
of measuring the air velocity can be stored in memory, depending on
the model. There are a total of 25 air flow meters available. They are
ideal for taking quick or constant measurements. You will find a
suitable device for whichever application, that is to say, for
industry, private workshops or for hobbies, including to monitor
ventilation installations, process checking, for nautical
enthusiasts, etc. Accessories are also available along with ISO
calibration certificates for these instruments (information:
calibration of air flow meters).
Here you will find a table with wind velocities and an approximate classification.

General information with a link for each example of typical flow meter units of measurement:
Air flow meters serve to measure wind
velocity. The standard of measurement for wind velocity is at an
altitude of 10m, as ground level wind velocity varies considerably
for each different location. The measurement is taken according to
the type of flow meter, for example, thermal measurement (hot
wire anemometers), measurement by cooling a hot wire, mechanical
measurement (side
wheel anemometers) or by pressure (Pitot
tube anemometers). The final method is by ultrasound. This class
of flow meter is currently too expensive in relation to it being
cost effective for taking standard measurements. Many flow meters
show the reading directly on their display. In this way,
complicated conversion calculations are integrated to allow for a
margin of error to be determined for air current velocity or for
continuous air flow. Please keep in mind that when using an
anemometer, the sensor (the side wheel, the hot wire probe,or
the
Pitot tube) is aimed towards the air current and above all that
it is maintained in the direction of the flow of air. Ensure that
the area is clear around the sensor to allow for the most accurate
readings. Many flow meters have direction arrows. Read the user's
manual to ensure that the flow meter is being used correctly, if it
is not used properly, in the case of the flow meter with impeller,
if it is not used properly, there is a risk of damaging the sensor wheel if it is not facing the
airflow correctly as the impeller functions in only one direction. When
using the hot wire anemometer, you must ensure that the air flow
does not contain dust as the particles will impact with the sensor
which is very sensitive. As the sensor is the most important part of
the flow meter, if it is damaged, the device will be useless. For
this reason, use the flow meter with impeller in light environmental
conditions up to an air velocity of 5m/s. For greater velocities, it
is recommended that you use the Pitot tube flow meter as they are
very accurate, durable and have a very high measurement range. |
